SEMILLA/achtli/seed, the beginning of all beginnings. before the two-legged cultivated madre tierra, seeds spread on the fur of four-legged beings, flowed in waters, and were swept by los vientos. semillitxs smaller than the two-legged eye can see migrated until they found home buried under the earth. they were nourished by crashing rainstorms, sparked to grow with cleansing fires, + mothered by earthworms + other soil creaters. from a seed 3mm big, grows our oldest and largest tree ancestor, the california sequoia. all in relation to nature, element, spirit, and people a seed becomes a forest.
la medicina of seeds call us home. semillas carry stories of the environment at a particular moment, the people who loved them and their resilience. when our familia of african descent were taken out of their tribes into every corner of the world, it is remembered they braided seeds of their plants into their hair. bringing lineage, bringing home with them.
seeds are sacred.
semillxs are our b l o o d.
seeds are our
a n c e s t o r s.
from las semillxs of this remembrance and resistance we birth SEMILLA OF IXCHEL.
our practice is a seed of Mayan goddxss Ixchel. she who is divine over the moon, agua, weaving + parto. Ixchel from the beginnings of beginnings has protected us in life's transitions. we call on "lady of rainbows," to guide us in setting the universe in motion to moments when our everything was free.
seed has always been free. we are the seeds of Ixchel birthing our freedom.
'nos trataron de enterrar, pero no sabían que somos semillas'/they buried us, they didn't know we were seeds
